Alright so we all know about the Ca S.C. upholding Prop H8, and as bitter as I am about it passing I'm quite glad about the ruling. Simply because I don't want the courts to overrule the people's vote. I'm terrified one day that we'll finally get laws passed that uphold equal rights and some corrupt court rules against and repeals it. That being said- I don't understand how we still have civil rights issues. I guess I'm naive, but I just can't grasp how someone can seriously say that they don't believe that everyone should have equal rights. How can you look someone in the eye and say- because you love someone or because you have different color skin, or different beliefs than me that you aren't as much of a person as I am.
I really just don't understand it.
I don't think I want to either.
I'm also terrified that I won't be able to properly teach my son my beliefs on that sort of thing. That everyone should have equal rights regardless of who they love. That there is nothing wrong with having Auntie A and Auntie B who live together and love each other. That yes they're married, and it's like mommy and daddy who love each other very much too, or Uncle and Uncle whatever! Alright you all know I'm generally more articulate than this, so I apologize, but you all know what I mean right?
Alright that's it, I'm tired and need sleep, bedtime for me.

I concur. It's goign to be next to impossible to raise our sons, in this day, that it's totally ok for uncle Luke to love uncle Joe and live together. That there is nothing wrong with it, and that everyone is truly equal. That it doesn't matter than Uncle Hank has dark skin, he is still our family. Maybe one day, things will be as they should, and our sons can bring about that change. Only time will tell.

Teach him that it's never okay to discriminate against anybody... even overweight people (*gasp*). I think it's RIDICULOUS that airlines are now charging bigger people for two seats. That's like charging an Af. American or a Hispanic person for two seats because they have brown skin... or a charging white person for two seats because they have white skin or blonde hair. That would NEVER happen today so why do people think it's okay for others to be treated like this?? I don't get it.
